AASHTO Accreditation Fees

Annual Administrative Accreditation Fees

AASHTO charges each laboratory seeking accreditation an application fee of $250 (the application fee is not a deposit toward the annual fee). The application fee should be submitted with the Accreditation Request Form. Applications for accreditation will not be processed until this fee is paid.

The following April after your laboratory gains accreditation, you will receive an invoice for AAP which covers the accreditation for the time between your initial application and April. This invoice will be prorated based on the amount of months that your laboratory was accredited in that billing cycle. Each year thereafter, you will be charged for the previous year’s accreditation. The purpose is to cover administrative costs for managing the AASHTO Accreditation Program. AASHTO charges each accredited laboratory this annual administrative fee according to the table below.

Annual AAP Administrative Fees
Base Fee $350
Per Standard Fee $25
Cap on Fees $2100

AMRL Proficiency Sample Fees

Laboratories seeking or maintaining accreditation for tests performed on soils, aggregates, or bituminous materials must participate in AMRL proficiency sample programs which include any tests for which the laboratory desires accreditation. Laboratories are invoiced in September each year for AMRL proficiency samples they will receive the following calendar year. Laboratories that need to resolve AASHTO Accreditation suspension issues can purchase AAP Extra Proficiency Samples at the same pricing structure as “regular” extra proficiency samples; however, the soil and aggregate samples will only include one sample.

AMRL On-Site Assessment Fees

Laboratories seeking or maintaining accreditation for tests performed on soils, aggregates or bituminous materials must receive routine on site assessments from AMRL. AMRL generally uses one assessor for soil, aggregate, and bituminous materials testing laboratories. However, AMRL may elect to send two assessors, at the same time, to laboratories that test soil, aggregate, and bituminous materials. AMRL on-site assessments typically occur every 2 years. Laboratories are invoiced for appropriate assessment fees following each on-site assessment.

CCRL On-Site Assessment Fees

Laboratories seeking or maintaining accreditation for tests performed on Portland cement concrete, aggregates (Both AMRL and CCRL provide for assessment of laboratories testing aggregate. The laboratory may receive their assessment from either organization), or hydraulic cement must receive routine on site assessments from CCRL. CCRL on-site assessments typically occur every 30 months. Laboratories are invoiced for appropriate assessment fees following each on-site assessment.

Supplemental Visits

Although they are seldom necessary, laboratories requiring additional on-site verification of compliance to AAP criteria to obtain or maintain accreditation will be charged appropriate fees.

CCRL Proficiency Sample Fees

Laboratories seeking or maintaining accreditation for tests performed on Portland cement concrete or hydraulic cement must participate in CCRL proficiency sample programs which include any tests for which the laboratory desires accreditation. Laboratories are invoiced an appropriate amount following each sample distribution.

ISO Assessment Fee

Laboratories accredited by AASHTO who desire recognition for conformance to the quality system requirements specified in ISO/IEC 17025 must receive an additional AAP ISO 17025 assessment. The total fee for an AAP ISO assessment or re-assessment is $2500; the total fee for an AAP ISO surveillance assessment is $1800. A $500 nonrefundable deposit is required before any AAP ISO assessment. AMRL invoices laboratories following each assessment.

Canadian Surcharge

An additional surcharge fee equal to the 15 % Canadian withholding tax on U.S. services will be applied to all accreditation and assessment invoices for Canadian laboratories.
