New! R18-08
August 15, 2008: The latest version of AASHTO R18 is now available for use. R18 provides guidance to testing laboratories in the establishment and implementation of a quality management system. All AASHTO-accredited laboratories must be in compliance with the requirements of this standard. Improvements to R18-08 include better formatting for easier reading and more detailed explanations of requirements. Several previous requirements have been removed, while a few others have been added. Section 8 of the revised standard includes a summary of the changes. AMRL will soon begin enforcing the requirements of AASHTO R18-08. To view the standard, go to the AASHTO Accreditation tab and click on the R18 link in the Documents section.

We Are Conducting Assessments In...
August 6, 2008: We are currently conducting assessments in Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina. Check the assessment tour schedule to see where we're heading next. Please contact us if you have any questions about our assessment schedule.
AMRL Launches NTPEP Audit Program
July 18, 2008: AMRL has recently begun conducting on-site audits on behalf of AASHTO's National Transportation Product Evaluation Program (NTPEP) for producers of HDPE plastic pipe and rebar. We are currently conducting audits in Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. If you are interested in learning more about the AMRL/NTPEP audits, please click on the NTPEP Evaluations tab.
Saybolt Viscosity Accreditation Change
May 22, 2008: The AASHTO Accreditation Program Directory listings will separate the Saybolt Viscosity tests performed at each temperature to indicate that laboratories can successfully demonstrate the test methods at both 25°C and 50°C. This change will take place after each laboratory receives its 27th Tour On-Site Assessment. Laboratories that only have “Saybolt Viscosity” listed on the directory can be assumed to not have had their 27th Tour On-Site Assessment yet.
INSTRUCTIONS and DATA SHEETS for Proficiency Testing
Beginning on January 1, 2008, hard copies of Proficiency Testing INSTRUCTIONS and DATA SHEETS will no longer be provided in the sample boxes. Hard copies will be available on the "Proficiency Testing" tab.
New Metals Program
